Adobe Systems Incorporated is an American computer software company headquartered in San Jose, California, USA. Adobe was founded in December 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke, who established the company after leaving Xerox PARC in order to develop and sell the PostScript page description language. In 1985, Apple Computer licensed PostScript for use in its LaserWriter printers, which helped spark the desktop publishing revolution. The company name Adobe comes from Adobe Creek, which ran behind the house of one of the company's founders

The current Adobe logo is the alphabet A displyed in white on a red background. The origins of the current A lie in the original logo shown below which had the complete name "Adobe Systems Incorporated" on a bluish-gray background. The A part was modified slightly and is the current logo of the company. Marva Warnock, one of the founders wife designed the company logo.

Yahoo Bang Logo

Yahoo! Inc. is an global Internet services company. It provides a range of products and services including a web portal, a search engine, the Yahoo! Directory, Yahoo! Mail, news, and posting. It was founded by Stanford University graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo in January of 1994 and incorporated on March 2, 1995. Yahoo! has been one of the most visited websites on the Internet, with more than 130 million unique users. The global network of Yahoo! websites received 3.4 billion page views per day on average as of October 2007, making it one of the most visited U.S. websites.

The Web site started out as "Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web" but eventually received a new moniker with the help of a dictionary. The name Yahoo! is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle," but Jerry and David insist they selected the name because of its definition: "rude, unsophisticated, uncouth."

The original Yahoo logo which stands today is bright red in color and went well with the uncouth definition. The Yahoo philosophy back when the site was created was to be very quick and so possibly the simplicity of the logo went with that philosophy. Over time, the logo has changed and there exists a purple version.

Some of the other variations include the Y! Bang logo or the Yahoo Messenger logo.

Olympus Logo - Design and History

Image Olympus is one of the leading manufacturers of cameras and related products in the world. Ever wondered how the logo for the company originated and what is stood for. Lets start with the name of the company. The company's original name was Takachiho Seisakusho. In Japanese mythology, it is said that eight million gods and goddesses live in Takamagahara, the peak of Mt.Takachiho.

The name "Olympus" was selected as the trademark because Mt.Olympus, like Mt.Takachiho, was the home of gods and goddesses. This trademark is also imbued with the aspiration of Olympus to illuminate the world with its optical devices, just like Takamagahara brought light to the world.

Takachiho Seisakusho was renamed Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. in 1942 when optical products became the mainstay of the company. In 1947, the name was changed again to Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. in an attempt to enhance its corporate image.

In Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus is the home of the twelve supreme gods and goddesses. Olympus was named after this mountain to reflect its strong aspiration to create high quality, world famous products.

Joomla Logo - Design and History

Joomla is an open source content management system. This site is built using Joomla and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to run sites based on content. I have found the Joomla logo to be very creative but never really understood what it meant until I searched for it today.

The Joomla! logo consists of the logotype and the mark. The mark represents what Joomla! is about...a community coming together as one. If you observe closely, the mark is made up of four "J's" rotated and linked together that represent the community coming together as one. This logo has been developed to promote high visibility of the mark balanced with clear legibility of the name.
